Bonds

I have found a house to move to in Bearpark and the rent is £80 a week but they want a £350 bond but i havent got that much. is there anyway i can get money for bonds anywhere as i have nowhere to live and my friends mam wants me to leave as soon as i can. I am desperate so anyone who knows how to get money for bonds please help. I am on income support.

Hi Karen,

The City of Durham has a Bond Guarantee Scheme were there is no cash payment to the landlord, instead it is a 6 month guarantee to the landlord which will cover for loss of rent if the tenant leaves in the first six months and the landlord is unable to re-let within the six month period or if a guarantee against loss or damage to the accommodation within the first six months. The Bond guarantee would be for four weeks rent up to a maximum of £500. The guarantee will not cover unpaid household bills or fair wear and tear.
