Mental Health Record

Will having a mental health record prevent me from being housed with Durham City Council, as I may become homeless in a few months because my landlord is selling the property?

Durham City Council state a homeless person may have a priority need if they are -

"Vulnerable as a result of old age, mental illness or handicap or physical disability or other special reason".

So in answer to your question, your mental health record will not stop you from applying for housing, but there are other considerations to take into account, these will be explained to you when you apply.

If you are going to become homeless, then you must contact Durham City Council A.S.A.P.

Ok... thanks for that, it's eased my mind a little, but should I just ring them or call into their office?

If possible call into their office rather than speaking to them on the telephone. Try to give them as much info as possible regarding your current situation.
