Any cheap houses?

Postby Anita S » Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:38 am

Hi i'm new to these forum thingies so if i mess up forgive me.

I've moved up to Durham from Scunthorpe and i'm staying in a guest house near Durham . It is a bit grotty and i want to find somewhere better but cheap. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'm unemployed at the moment but hope to find work. I am prepaired to share. Not to expensive and not in too dodgy an area. Where are the areas of Durham to avoid?

Thanks for any advice,
Anita

Have you tried applying for council accommodation? The offices are on Claypath near tha Gala Theatre.

Most villages around Durham are fine but have rough parts within them. I would not be put off living anywhere in Durham except Sherburn Road Estate.

The council will let you know of other housing options such as housing groups and private landlords.
